Landscape and Nature Photographer
About Me - It has been twenty years or more since I began to study and explore landscape photography, and I’m blessed to be able to say my journey in the medium continues with even more passion and excitement today. My interest in photography started more from the need to have photographs as reference material for the watercolor paintings I enjoyed creating and selling locally. However, It became apparent I was spending more time putting light on film than paint on paper. I still love to admire a good watercolor painting, but recording the beauty of nature with a camera was the creative voice in me I wanted to develop, where I could actually connect with the very things I wanted to render, through images that would hopefully communicate some of what I experienced in that moment.
Photographic Philosophy - Pushing my creative boundaries is an absolute necessity and requires a willingness on my part to explore new paths in landscape photography, with new techniques and perspectives, always having the goal to produce work possessing depth of expression, emotion and communication. So, I believe it’s important as a photographer to be open to new ideas, being aware of the works of other photographers. With that said though, It’s also essential my work is my own and uniquely represents my vision and path.
Editing - Finally, my approach to processing an image is conservative in that I want to control results with the camera as much as possible, with minimal editing in Lightroom and Photoshop, the goal being to produce images that are not too “over done”.
Thank you so much for exploring my website. I hope you enjoy my work and will visit again, as I am posting new images all the time. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Michael Reece
